Roads & Transport Authority - Sharjah better known as "RTA - Sharjah" is the sole Authority and key regulator, for the passenger transport sector in the Emirate of Sharjah, by decree issued from Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah HH Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi.

In November 2007, RTA - Sharjah officially announced that it had awarded KGL Passenger Transport Services of Kuwait the rights to operate Sharjah Public Transport Network. KGL Passenger Transport Services k.s.c.c. is a leading provider of transportation solutions to the public and private sectors in Kuwait and throughout the Middle East and is a subsidiary of KGL Holding Company whose core competencies is Supply Chain Management (SCM) with activities throughout the Middle East, Africa and beyond.
